Mixteco Indians- Baja California, Mexico
You can view a video slideshow of some of Calvary Chapel Stockton's trips to serve with IDT in Mexico, during the Summer of 2009.
Elia serves God under the covering of IDT. She is quite a tireless worker throughout Baja California to the poor & needy, especially to the indigenous Mixteco & Triqui Indians, who work the fields in the central valley of Baja. These people live most of the year in very tough conditions, traveling from their homes in mainland Mexico seeking work. They will spend most of nine months living with tarps and sticks to form their village.
Our teams have gone out there 4 times in the last year to minister to these families, some of them with Elia and her faithful band of followers. Check out the photos of Elia ministering to the kids with Bible stories & singing...they love it and follow her faithfully. We also bring vital supplies out to them in Jesus’ Name, in conjunction with the local missionaries, never on our own!
Elia is a faithful servant who loves these people and speaks a dialect that is very close to theirs. These children will probably never see a classroom so Elia brings school to them, often driving 45 minutes from her home over rugged terrain to teach them about Jesus Christ & to teach them the Bible as God's special gift to us. She leads them in singing and brings her portable microphone to teach and share the good news of the gospel.
We rejoice that IDT is able to assist us in bringing support to her in Baja California.
